About The Position

We are hiring immediately for full time PATIENT TRANSPORTER LEAD positions at Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital. The position involves the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items. The role includes directing the daily work of other patient transporters, training new and existing employees, and ensuring patient comfort during transport. The schedule is full time with varying days from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, and flexibility is required. The pay range is $19.00 to $21.25 per hour.

Requirements

• Prior experience in patient transport.
• Supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily work of other patient transporters and reports inadequate performance to Supervisor.
• Trains new and existing employees; updates personnel files.
• Follows up on complaints and reports them to the Supervisor.
• Evaluates work requirements and assignments; ensures efficient use of employees and distribution of work load.
• Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age-groups.
• Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination; brings the proper requested equipment.
• Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch.
• Ensures patient comfort by being attentive; offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients.
• Immediately alerts nursing staff to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
• Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs.
• Complies with regulator agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO.
• Adheres to facility confidentiality and patients' rights policy as outlined in the facility's HIPPA policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
