About The Position

The Patient Transporter in Transport Services is responsible for maintaining a professional image and exhibiting excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. The role involves assisting in lifting, turning, positioning, and preparing patients for radiology tests/exams, using proper body mechanics. The transporter must maintain a clean and clutter-free environment and take appropriate action to correct hazards. Responsibilities include assisting nursing staff in transferring patients to and from the exam table, helping patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds, and monitoring the outer core to ensure the area is free of non-essential equipment. The transporter is also responsible for transporting non-monitored patients to and from nursing units safely and comfortably, as well as transporting monitored patients with the assistance of a nurse. Additionally, the transporter must maintain the cleanliness and availability of transport equipment and ensure a supply of oxygen tanks in the department. The role may also involve utilizing and operating tanks, monitors, IV poles, and other devices that may accompany the patient. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma preferred or GED.
  • Basic computer skills to complete tasks associated with job duties.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with individuals at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work and function independently during performance of job duties.
