About The Position

The Patient Transporter 1 is responsible for the safe and courteous transportation of patients, their belongings, medical records, and equipment within the healthcare facility. This role emphasizes customer service, safety, and compliance with healthcare regulations while ensuring a positive experience for patients and staff.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Basic computer skills, including data entry and electronic medical documentation.
• Ability to communicate thoughts clearly, both through speech and in writing.
• Relational skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Safely transports patients and their belongings, medical records, charts, and equipment to various areas.
• Maintains a friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers.
• Safely moves patients with traction, IVs, drainage apparatus, oxygen, and other encumbrances.
• Provides emergency help to patients who become ill during transport until proper staff is notified and help arrives.
• Verifies the proper patient identity by visually checking patient identification or verifying with nursing staff.
• Notifies dispatcher of the status of assigned duties and proceeds as instructed.
• Champions overall safety in the department and reports possible safety issues.
• Complies with OSHA and other regulations.
• Dresses in designated uniform and adheres to proper hygiene when reporting to work and performing job duties.
• Transports bodies to the morgue and ensures that proper documentation is completed.
