This role involves transporting all patient populations to and from examinations and treatments. The Patient Transport team member performs general errands and other routine duties, including cleaning equipment, securing supplies, and other tasks as required, acting as a vital team member in the delivery of quality patient care. Adherence to unit procedures is required wherever transport services are rendered. Essential functions include preparing patients for transport, performing passive and active identification to ensure proper patient identification, and transporting patients and equipment to and from various testing and procedure areas, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and high-risk Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The position requires effective communication with medical employees to ensure all necessary medical supplies and medications, including oxygen when required, are appropriately transported with the patient. Responsibilities also encompass the timely discharge of patients throughout the hospital, assisting ambulatory patients with toileting under the direction of medical employees and/or a Registered Nurse (RN), cleaning and disinfecting equipment according to established policies, maintaining clean work areas, returning equipment to the appropriate department, and communicating any malfunctioning equipment or instruments to the relevant department or unit staff.
