About The Position

The Driver, Transport Van operates and maintains the hospital transport van and associated equipment, transporting patients that are discharged to their destinations such as home, skilled nursing facility, or rehab facility. The role involves performing inspections, documenting discrepancies, and recording driver logs noting passenger counts and gas usage. The driver communicates to passengers the location of different service lines and/or procedures to ensure safe and carefree transportation. The position requires completion of all UHS training and refreshers, adherence to safety procedures and vehicle maintenance/operation standards, and reporting all corporate vehicle accidents consistent with the UHS Corporate and Facility Fleet (Auto) Safety Policy. Demonstrating Service Excellence at all times is essential, along with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Required.
• Minimum one (1) year driving experience with passengers.
• Knowledge of reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
• Skilled in performing basic auto maintenance.
• Ability to pass a DOT/FTA drug screening.
• Ability to create relationships with customers.
• Computer literacy of basic computers and how they work to include MS Office applications.
• Physical ability to walk frequently and sit continuously.
• Availability to work in a hospital environment and at times extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Greets passengers (patients, visitors, and guests) and safely transports them from various designated areas to/from the Hospital and Medical Office Building to discharge destinations.
• Provides information to riders, transports them to the correct location, and maintains log of pickups and deliveries along with gas usage and timekeeping.
• Informs and relays all necessary information in a clear and concise manner whether in-person or via radio.
• Follows all traffic signs/laws and maintains posted speed limits.
• Maintains safety standards at all times when transporting passengers and ensures the vehicle meets all safety requirements and is up to date with the maintenance schedule.
• Provides exceptional service and safety at all times and ensures the vehicle is cleaned, maintained, and meets all MMH standards and brand representation.
• Demonstrates service excellence at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
