Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for a Per Diem Patient Transport Technician to join our team in Springfield, MA. As a member of the patient transport department, Transport Technicians participate in patient care by assisting health care team members with the lifting, positioning, and movement of patients and equipment. In addition, under the direction and supervision of the transport department you will transport patients to tests, transfers, discharges, admissions, and procedures. The employee contributes to patient and employee safety at all times. Reports to the Clinical Nurse manager. The Transport Technician performs a variety of duties including but not limited to; simple mobilization, assisting in transferring and preparing ambulatory patients for transport; transporting specimens in locked containers only; transporting medications from inpatient pharmacy to units; wheelchairs, stretchers and beds to units; under direction of registered nurse transporting non-critical patients to test procedures, room transfers and discharges. Transporting patients and various items throughout the hospital; cleaning assigned equipment used for patient transport, as required. The Transport Technician works collaboratively with others in patient/family - focused care teams. Transport Technicians must have the ability to prioritize work assignments, work in a fast-paced environment and interact with peers, clerical staff, nurses and other health care professionals. The Transport Technician may be required to perform other similar and related duties in a proactive manner under direction from leadership. Management has the right to change/add to the job responsibilities at any time.
