Day shift typically works 8 hour shifts with start times ranging from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Weekend availability is required. The Patient Transport Tech I will transport patients to various areas of the Medical Center. A patient transporter is also responsible for transporting patient care equipment in a 24-hour operation, 7 days a week. Functions include positioning, transferring, and transporting patients to and from various departments or locations by wheelchair, bed, gurney or ambulette. This involves lifting, turning, transferring, and repositioning patients requiring moderate assistance to total assistance. There may be limited clerical duties for the transport function. Other role requirements may include patient care equipment movement, specimens, maintenance, and cleaning or disinfection, assisting in the management of decedent affairs, and other activities as directed. Assignments may vary between day and night shift, and participation in weekend coverage is required.
