About The Position

The Patient Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting individuals from the Comm Ctr for Child & Adoles (CCCA) to various community locations for discharge purposes and related activities, such as placement visits. A key aspect of the role involves monitoring patient behavior during transport to ensure their calm and secure passage. The driver will also coordinate transportation schedules with social work staff and provide essential feedback to medical, nursing, and social work personnel regarding patient transport needs and concerns. Furthermore, the position requires maintaining the assigned vehicle to ensure its cleanliness, operational readiness, and safety. When not engaged in active patient transport or coordination, the driver will assist with discharge-related tasks and other duties as directed by the Social Work Director.

Requirements

• Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
• Knowledge of safety protocols including emergency situations and CPR.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and maintain a flexible schedule.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in healthcare, behavioral health or patient transport role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport individuals from CCCA to the community for the purpose of discharge and for discharge related community activities such as placement visits.
• Monitor patient behavior during transport to ensure they are calm and secure.
• Collaborate with social work staff to coordinate transportation schedules.
• Provide feedback to appropriate staff member (medical, nursing, social work) regarding patient transport needs and concerns.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle to ensure it is kept clean, operational, and safe for patient transportation while using the vehicle.
• Perform discharge related tasks and other duties as assigned by the Social Work Director during times when not actively transporting a patient or coordinating a transportation.
