About The Position

Hartford Hospital is a large and respected teaching hospital in New England, a Level 1 Trauma Center known for cutting-edge treatment, including the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI). The Patient Transport Aide is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations. This role enables physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties effectively. The aide must ensure positive patient and customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, and adherence to hospital, department, and regulatory agency policies, procedures, and standards. The individual is expected to act as a positive role model and team player, demonstrating the Hartford HealthCare mission and values, and must be sensitive and attentive to all patient/guest needs. Responsibilities

Responds to transport requests with a sense of urgency.
Ensures oxygen tanks are not empty/tank has enough oxygen for entire transport.
Ensures the comfort of the patient throughout entire request by being attentive; offers blankets, checks modesty, and only engages in appropriate conversation involving the patient.
