Job Summary Performs a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care in an emergency medical setting within their scope of practice and under close/general supervision of licensed personnel. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients, and family members of pertinent information promptly. Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation. Utilizes equipment and supplies safely and appropriately; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly. Performs basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing, and transports assigned patients. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Requirements

  • Education - Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course.
  • Experience - Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred.
  • In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, the following combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered an equivalent substitution:
  • required coursework, will accept 1 year of related healthcare experience.
  • The nursing assistant training course will accept current or former South Carolina CNA certification as proof of completed state-required training at the time of hire.
  • school verification of a medical assistant training course will accept current or former CMA certification as proof of completed required training at the time of hire.
  • Skills necessary to care for patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred.
