About The Position

The Patient Support Referral Specialist at Griffin Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the Griffin Faculty Physicians by managing patient referrals, scheduling appointments, and ensuring accurate patient records. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare providers, while adhering to established protocols and performance expectations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred with an emphasis on healthcare.
  • At least 2 years of customer service experience desired, preferably in a healthcare setting or with medical claims insurance.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.
  • Ability to multitask in a high volume, technical, and diverse environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to type 30 wpm preferred.
  • Previous computer experience required.
  • Above average written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly and professionally answer telephone calls.
  • Verify, update, and enter patient demographics into the electronic medical record.
  • Create new patient records as needed.
  • Schedule patient appointments according to established office protocols and triage guidelines.
  • Communicate with physician office staff regarding patient concerns, requests, and scheduling changes.
  • Schedule and coordinate provider appointments.
  • Perform referral reconciliation.
  • Meet or exceed Key Performance Indicator expectations.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences.
