About The Position

The Patient Support Assistant position is located in Niles, IL, and is a full-time role with day shift hours. The position requires travel to other sites based on departmental needs. The role involves answering incoming calls from patients, physicians, and other departments, and handling each call according to NorthShore's customer service standards. The assistant will utilize Epic to schedule and register patients, obtain prior authorizations, review provider templates, and provide administrative support under the direction of physicians and the practice manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 1 – 2 years in an administrative/customer service position.
  • EPIC knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, display flexibility, and take initiative.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer all incoming telephone calls from patients, physicians, and other departments.
  • Handle calls in accordance with NorthShore telephone customer service standards and practice protocols.
  • Document telephone encounters in Epic.
  • Utilize Epic to schedule and register new, established, and post-procedure patients.
  • Obtain prior authorization for procedures.
  • Review provider templates.
  • Provide administrative support under the direction of the Physicians and Practice Manager.
