About The Position

The Patient Sitter provides support to the nursing staff by observing the patient to prevent patient injury to include: acts to prevent a confused patient from falling, leaving the unit or pulling out intravenous lines or other tubes, etc. or prevent the suicidal patient from intentionally committing self-harm. Works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED preferred.
• Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients to prevent injury.
• Act to prevent confused patients from falling or leaving the unit.
• Prevent patients from pulling out intravenous lines or other tubes.
• Prevent suicidal patients from committing self-harm.
• Work under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
