Job Summary The Patient Sitter is responsible for continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients through a non-recording video monitoring system Reports to: Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to: • Continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients by acting as a 1-1 physical sitter • Observe potentially life threatening risk behaviors exhibited by suicidal patients; Verbally redirect patient behaviors while notifying nursing staff for assistance • Monitor patient environment for potential safety hazards, including but not limited to sharp objects and items that could potentially be used for harm • Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times • Participate in hand-off information and patient behavior issues to the next shift. Provide proper notification and hand off of information when patient is cleared from suicidal watch • All other related assigned duties

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills necessary
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize to meet competing deadlines
  • Ability to extend and maintain discretion and confidentiality when working with patients
  • Talking and hearing is essential for communicating with patients and nursing staff.
  • Physical demands include sitting for prolonged periods of time, walking, and standing
