About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist at Atrium Health Charlotte Pediatrics Steele Creek is responsible for providing caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience. This role requires exemplary interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families in sensitive situations, critical thinking, and decisive judgment in a hectic environment, while working cohesively in a team or independently. Key duties include managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection, and cash receipting, as well as arrival and departure desk activities, ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience. The specialist encourages patient utilization of front-end technology during registration, enters and maintains confidential patient information, assists with billing functions, and demonstrates proficiency in emergency codes and healthcare regulations. They also monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency equipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED require
  • Computer experience required
  • Customer relations experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred to support the customer population served
  • Experience with Medical Records Software preferred
  • Front desk practice experience preferred

  • Manages patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience
  • Encourages patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process
  • Enters and maintains confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter
  • Assists billing functions accurately and/or directs to appropriate billing office
  • Demonstrates proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations
  • Monitors inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment
