About The Position
MaineGeneral Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring their experience is seamless and positive from start to finish. As a PSR, you will greet patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor, setting the tone for their visit. You will be responsible for answering phone calls, providing necessary information, and directing calls to the appropriate departments. Your role will also involve performing various clerical duties to support the clinical team, ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare setting. In addition to greeting patients, you will manage appointment scheduling using our computerized scheduling system, verify insurance benefits, and obtain precertification or authorization when necessary. You will determine and accept required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, and refer patients to financial counselors as needed. Accuracy is crucial in this role, as you will be entering and maintaining demographic, billing, and clinical information in the registration system. You will also handle medical referrals and follow-ups, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to provide comprehensive patient care. Your attention to detail will be essential in assisting with data entry, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all tasks.
