About The Position

The position is for a full-time role in the Gastroenterology department at Advocate Health, located at 755 South Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville. The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a pay range of $19.45 to $29.20. The role involves providing efficient, high-quality service to patients, including greeting and registering patients, coordinating appointments, answering phone calls, and resolving patient inquiries. The position also includes responsibilities related to billing services and maintaining medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with corporate policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of related customer service experience.
  • Experience handling difficult callers/customers/patients.
  • CRT/PC experience in a customer service setting.
  • Working knowledge of eClinicalWorks and scheduling sections of the eClinicalWorks system preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems posed by callers seeking referrals, appointments, billing issues, and clinical information.

Responsibilities

  • Provides efficient, high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or who telephone or visit in person.
  • Greets and accurately registers patients in the EMR system, verifying essential billing and demographic information.
  • Coordinates scheduling of patient appointments accurately and efficiently.
  • Answers multiple incoming telephone lines, determining the appropriate recipient of the call or message.
  • Distributes communications accurately based on practice protocol.
  • Resolves a variety of patient questions, including HMO referrals, billing, and queries about services and test results.
  • Schedules future appointments and requisitions for laboratory tests and radiology procedures.
  • Notifies patient care area when a patient has arrived and is ready to be seen.
  • Attends to waiting patients in reception and ensures timely service.
  • Ensures entry at time of service of billing information and accurate follow-up on missing information.
  • Maintains medical records, including loose filing and re-filing of charts daily.
