About The Position

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) at Nemours is a vital front-line role responsible for managing patient interactions at the Deptford Surgery Center. This position involves greeting patients, verifying their information, and ensuring a smooth check-in process for scheduled procedures. The PSR II plays a key role in maintaining accurate demographic and financial records while providing compassionate service to patients and their families.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Previous customer or patient focused work experience highly preferred.
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and families at the clinical setting according to Nemours Standards of Behavior.
  • Establishes and maintains a professional demeanor with compassion and displays an understanding of patient needs.
  • Verifies patient identity using two patient identifiers (name and date of birth).
  • Communicates patient readiness with clinical teams.
  • Performs tasks associated with Nemours' outpatient business front desk functions.
  • Confirms authorization and/or collects referrals for the day's visit, notifying Pre-registration and Authorization Department as necessary.
  • Confirms all patient personal demographic information.
  • Confirms patient identification with two identifiers.
  • Confirms legal guardianship.
  • Confirms referral information for patient visit, if applicable.
  • Prepares, completes, and/or collects consents and all other required documents.
  • Scans insurance cards and other important documents.
  • Collects and posts co-pays and past due balances.
  • Achieves Registration Accuracy of at least 95%.
  • Creates, schedules, and posts surgical cases in 'EPIC OpTime Scheduler'.
  • Schedules MRI procedures in 'Front Desk'.
  • Scans/enters MRI orders.
  • Accesses physician calendars as appropriate.
  • Prepares paper chart for next day surgeries/procedures.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments utilizing iGuide to determine participation, if appropriate.
  • Regularly communicates with clinical staff regarding the status of waiting patients, particularly those who have been waiting for a lengthy period of time.
  • Communicates with waiting patients/families to ensure they have status updates regarding their child's procedure.
  • Reconciles payment collections accurately at the end of each shift, as per Cash Collections Policy.
