About The Position

The Patient Services Phleb Float position at Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories involves floating between various patient service centers and collection sites to collect and process laboratory specimens. The role emphasizes patient care, adherence to collection standards, and efficient clerical functions related to patient and billing information. This full-time position operates primarily during the first shift, contributing to the laboratory's mission of providing high-quality diagnostic services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of an external phlebotomy program with clinical experience and at least 100 draws, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time experience in phlebotomy with at least 100 draws in lieu of education.
  • Windows-based computer skills and clerical function proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record as per company policy.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process laboratory specimens following proper collection and specimen labeling procedures.
  • Attend mandatory phlebotomy and float meetings to ensure effective communication.
  • Process specimens accurately, ensuring proper labeling and handling requirements are met.
  • Complete laboratory requisition forms with correct patient and insurance information.
  • Maintain an organized and neat work environment at assigned sites.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and manage laboratory reports distribution.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, notifying leadership of any needs for repair or replacement.
  • Assist in orienting new or floating co-workers on location-specific procedures.
  • Keep leadership informed of any changes or concerns at the location.
  • Navigate between sites efficiently and maintain proficiency in computer programs used at Patient Service Centers.
  • Complete maintenance logs and required forms weekly and return them to management.
  • Participate in training as needed.
