Position Highlights SUMMARY: Performs clerical and basic admissions functions necessary to promote efficient patient care. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Will work in an environment of moderate noise. RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS: Maintains confidentiality when dealing with all customers, including employees. Report to work as scheduled and follow facility polices regarding attendance, tardiness and use of company time. Use my work email address and all work computers for business only. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answers multiple line telephone and routes calls promptly; does not leave callers on hold and unattended for extended periods of time. Alerts appropriate personnel to urgent messages/issues that require immediate attention. Takes routine messages and forwards appropriately. Greets patients, visitors and coworkers in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. For patients requiring assistance with ambulation into or around building, offers to get assistance and remains with patient until care staff arrives. Enters patient demographics, verifies and updates necessary information in the computer system. Utilizing a computerized system, initiates and maintains patient appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters. Point of contact for death certificate completion in timely manner, in accordance with state regulations. Serves as liaison between patients and nursing/medical staff. Provides information to employees/visitors within scope of knowledge or refers to appropriate individuals. May assist patient care staff to schedule referral appointments. May answer patient questions regarding the cost of services and as necessary facilitates a consultation with a provider regarding patient billing questions. Refers findings to the billing office where staff address the patient’s concerns. Performs other generalized secretarial duties such as: making copies, managing incoming and outgoing fax transactions, ordering supplies, sorting and distributing mail. Sends out scheduling/rescheduling letters to patients. Employee must perform related work as assigned by their manager.
