The UNM Medical Group, Inc. is seeking an Full-time Patient Services Coordinator to work in our Cancer Center Patient Access - New Patients area. Minimum $36,399 - Midpoint $44,754 Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience. Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE. Working availability Monday-Friday 7am-5pm. This position will report to the Supervisor of the New Patient Services within the Patient Services Department. This position is responsible for handing all incoming internal and external new patient referrals. The process requires a call to the patient within 16 business hours of receipt of the referral request to complete intake, then assigning a new patient scheduler who will request medical records, imaging and pathology if required as well as other documents necessary for patient triage and visit. Medical Terminology knowledge if preferred. Registration, insurance verification, multi-provider scheduling, answering multi-line incoming calls, strong communication skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task is essential. This position is critical to the overall success of the department by meeting established goals in a very demanding and high producing clinic environment all while addressing and meeting the needs of the patients and/or physicians. Summary: Provides administrative support at a UNMMG Ambulatory Clinic, including scheduling appointments, receptionist duties, and verifying demographic and insurance information. Manages referral and prior authorization processes with insurance carriers. Assists with patient concerns and complaints, serving as a liaison between patients, physicians, and insurance companies. The functional areas are; New Patient Referral Processing, Insurance Verification, Patient Check-In and Registration, Scheduling, Medical Records, Radiation Oncology Frontline and PBX Operators. The position will provide direct services to patients either by phone or in person by processing new patient referrals, verifying insurance coverage and benefits, frontline registrar for Medical or Radiation Oncology, appointment scheduling, medical records or as a PBX Operator.
