Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 The Patient Liaison works as a team member to assist internal and external customers assuring accurate and complete registration, scheduling appointments, demographic information, insurance coverage, collecting payments and monitoring customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • No experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months previous experience in the HUC or healthcare-related field.

Responsibilities

  • Represents Gundersen Health System's high standards for customer service in all telephone and face-to-face encounters.
  • Facilitate unit operations through knowing and communicating information, managing desk area, technology support for staff, monitoring and communicating bed status, and coordinating downtime procedures.
  • Uses Epic computer system to help in the management of the electronic medical chart, including data input, appointment management, monitoring for accuracy and missing information.
  • Demonstrates effective, collaborative working relationships with health care team members.
  • Coordinates patients' daily schedule. (e.g., tests, exams, imaging, procedures, appointments and transportation.
  • Assists the patient discharge process as directed.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities in order to continuously improve patient care and unit operations.
  • Attends and participates in HUC meetings and unit staff meetings.
  • Demonstrates the following skills in accordance with unit standards and expectations - creative problem solving, organizational skills, critical thinking, sets priorities, utilizes appropriate lines of authority, responds to crisis situations and establish appropriate priorities.
  • Demonstrates dependability, organizational skills, and effective use of time by setting priorities to complete work within established timeframes.
  • Demonstrates role accountability by adhering to Gundersen Health System mission statement, policies, and confidentiality standards.
  • Assists in the orientation of new staff. Also may act as proctor to HUC students.
  • Demonstrates and maintains successful completion of defined core competencies in computer skills related to patient registration and appointment scheduling.
  • Obtains appropriate signatures on forms relating to registration, billing, and patient care, meeting all compliance regulations and requirements.
  • Provide virtual sitting for patients following applicable policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
