About The Position

The Patient Services Associate (PSA) position at Stormont-Vail HealthCare is a part-time, non-clinical role focused on providing essential support to healthcare providers and patients. The PSA is responsible for managing a high volume of incoming calls, coordinating patient care requests, and ensuring timely communication between patients and healthcare staff. This role is critical in facilitating patient transfers, scheduling follow-up appointments, and maintaining accurate patient information to enhance the overall patient experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
  • 2 years of customer service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate protocols regarding transfer and trauma calls.
  • Ability to accurately document inquiries into the database for statistical purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming calls from community callers and healthcare staff.
  • Page critical time-sensitive patient care requests.
  • Coordinate transfers from referring physicians and enter information into the Transfer Module.
  • Schedule hospital discharge follow-up appointments for patients.
  • Review and enter patient demographic information into the Nursing queue for after-hours nurse triage requests.
  • Answer incoming calls and reschedule patient appointments as needed.
  • Direct calls to appropriate staff and cancel patient appointments upon request.
  • Register clients for various classes/events sponsored by Stormont Vail Health.
  • Maintain the statewide EMSystem with accurate bed status and diversions.
  • Cross-train and act as backup for registration or other administrative peers.
  • Participate in weekly huddles and monthly staff meetings to improve processes.
