About The Position

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in administrative/clerical support or customer service required.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound computer literacy to manage appointments and access electronic medical records.
  • Knowledge of cashiering functions and ability to record payments accurately.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse patient base.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and listen attentively to patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant certification, C-NA certification, or completion of a Medical Terminology course preferred.
  • Multi-lingual skills in English, Spanish, Arabic, and Somali depending on current priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the patient check-in and check-out process from start to finish.
  • Verify identification and update or confirm demographic and insurance information.
  • Collect specified co-pays and payments from patients according to coverage specifications.
  • Screen for eligibility and financial assistance.
  • Follow policies and procedures in collecting and handling cash.
  • Ensure patient information is accurately entered into the Electronic Health Record.
  • Confirm, request, and process referrals and authorizations for specialty services.
  • Contact patients to schedule appointments and send reminder notifications.
  • Respond to customer billing and payment inquiries as needed.
  • Perform general clerical duties such as scanning information and sorting correspondence.
