About The Position

Patient Service Representative Open Door Health Services is seeking to fill two PSR roles. One role will work out of the main location at 333 S. Madison Street downtown Muncie, Indiana. The second role will work out of the ODHS clinic at the YMCA. 333 S. Madison St. :This position is Monday through Friday, fulltime - 40 hours per week. You must be able to work between 7:30 am and 7 pm. YMCA Clinic: This position is Monday through Friday, fulltime - 40 hours per week. The schedule for this role is 8:30a to 5p. In the role of Patient Service Representative, you will work closely with your team to ensure flow and accuracy of information meets patient needs and perform a variety of patient focused duties including greeting patients/guests and overseeing the flow of patient traffic in the waiting room areas. Responsibilities (How this position enhances our Mission, Vision, and Values) Mission – Improve the Quality of Life of Others: Greet all patients and visitors in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. Notify Outreach and Enrollment staff of uninsured patients. Comply with regulations, standards, and directives from Open Door Health Services, regulatory agencies, and third-party payers. Check out Behavioral Health & WIC clients as needed. Handles patient requests at the front desk as needed, including working with clinical team as needed. Complete all training and new hire check list. Able to check patients in and out independently. Consistently asks patients for insurance, ID, payments, and updating consents/forms/IDs/patient photos. Make reminder calls to patients and complete any pre-registration tasks. Accurately perform complete registration of patient clinical, financial, and demographic information in Athena. Responsible for the verification of insurance eligibility. Distribute and collect the new patient packet forms. Perform scheduling tasks if home location is somewhere other than 333 and WR. Maintains a sign-in log of vendors, students, and volunteers. Copy patient documents for assistance programs and forward them to appropriate staff. Responsible for seeing that the building is secured in the evening. Informing patients of WIC services and appointments with WIC, as needed. Requires traveling to other locations to fill in as needed. Must be respectful to patients and peers at all times.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
  • Experience in a health care setting and/or in an office preferred.
  • Previous experience as a receptionist and/or Check-out preferred.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work with a high degree of precision and attention to detail.
  • Able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Great telephone and computer skills.
  • Able to work unsupervised.
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to clinic environment.
  • Tasks involve contact with blood or body substances.
  • Requires standing, walking or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasional bending, stretching or lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to work in stressful situations.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range or use of approved adaptive equipment.
