About the position

The Patient Service Representative at Allustra Dermatology is a vital role responsible for ensuring smooth operations within a busy dermatology practice. This position requires a motivated and personable individual who can multitask effectively while providing excellent service to patients and managing various administrative tasks related to insurance and billing.

Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance and determine eligibility and benefits.
  • Obtain required prior authorizations and referrals.
  • Collect patient payments and post payments accurately.
  • Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues.
  • Answer phone calls and schedule appointments efficiently.
  • Check-in and check-out patients in a timely manner.
  • Manage practice portals and faxes while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Medical Billing Specialist, Patient Service Representative, or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical billing software systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive patient information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in electronic medical software.
  • Understanding of medical collection processes.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures.
  • Customer service experience (1 year preferred).
