About The Position

The Patient Service Representative oversees the administrative duties of the Center and is responsible for moving patients through the check-in and check-out process. This role requires maintaining effective communication with patients, coworkers, and supervisors while ensuring a courteous and professional working environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Customer-friendly attitude
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
  • Money and balancing skills
  • Knowledge of bank deposits
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to function effectively under stress
  • Good evaluative judgment
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry
  • Ability to work well with people
  • Ability to multi-task

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Creole) a plus
  • One year experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide a courteous, professional working environment
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, coworkers, and supervisor
  • Maintain efficient patient flow and update patient demographics
  • Interview patients for sliding fee scale services and update eligibility
  • Verify insurance and set eligibility dates in system
  • Call and remind patients to bring missing information to their appointment
  • Collect payments and patient-responsible balances
  • Post charges to patient accounts
  • Scan and import demographic and clinical documentation into patient charts
  • Schedule appointments as needed
  • Monitor patient schedule to accommodate walk-in patients
  • Direct patients to the proper department for assistance
  • Answer multi-line telephone system
  • Operate office equipment, i.e. fax, copier, computer, and credit card machine
  • Provide copies of patient medical records as requested
  • Contribute to the positive image of the front office operations
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
