About The Position

The position involves greeting patients and their families, scheduling appointments, and ensuring timely actions are taken for hospital and ambulatory admissions and procedures. The role requires answering phone calls promptly, directing calls appropriately, and maintaining communication resources. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
  • Heartsaver certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous Patient Service Representative experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Accurate computer data entry skills.
  • Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of medical office and terminology preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in computer use required.
  • Experience with EHR and Practice Management Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and families, schedule appointments, and manage hospital admissions/procedures.
  • Answer telephone calls promptly and direct them appropriately.
  • Schedule future appointments and complete referrals as ordered by physicians.
  • Maintain communication resources such as on-call schedules and physician contact information.
  • Prepare charts for new patients and ensure all required forms are included.
  • Request and prepare medical records for physician visits.
  • Reconcile daily encounters according to policy.
  • Monitor supply inventory and manage requisitions for supplies and equipment.
  • Perform clerical duties including faxing, photocopying, and filing.
  • Obtain, verify, and update patient information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Complete necessary forms accurately for patients.
  • Respect patient rights and maintain a positive working relationship with staff.
  • Communicate any problems or equipment concerns to the Nurse Manager.
