About The Position

This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week, with a schedule that may include one Saturday a month. The working hours are Monday 645a-530p, Tuesday 645a-6p, Wednesday 645a-530p, Thursday 645a-5p, Friday 645a-5p, and Saturday 745-12. The role may require coverage at other sites such as McHenry, Lakemoor, and Barrington due to PTO or call-ins. The pay range for this position is $19.45 - $29.20.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years related customer service experience.
  • Experience handling difficult callers/customers/patients.
  • CRT/PC experience in a customer service setting.
  • Working knowledge of eClinicalWorks and scheduling sections of the eClinicalWorks system preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems posed by callers seeking referrals, appointments, billing issues, and clinical information.

Responsibilities

  • Provides efficient, high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or who telephone or visit in person to request appointments or information.
  • Greets and accurately registers patients in the EMR system, verifying essential billing and demographic information.
  • Coordinates scheduling of patient appointments accurately and efficiently.
  • Answers multiple incoming telephone lines, determining the appropriate recipient of the call or message.
  • Distributes communications accurately based on practice protocol.
  • Resolves a variety of patient questions, including HMO referrals, billing, and queries about services and test results.
  • Schedules future appointments and requisitions for laboratory tests, radiology procedures, and other special diagnostic tests.
  • Notifies patient care area when a patient has arrived and is ready to be seen.
  • Attends to waiting patients in reception and ensures they are seen in a timely manner.
  • Accurately identifies type of insurance from card and verifies eligibility if necessary.
  • Ensures entry at time of service of billing information on the patient and payer.
  • Reviews encounter forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Enters patient charges into the EMR system according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains medical records including loose filing and re-filing of charts daily.
  • Pulls and prepares charts for appointments.
  • Maintains confidentiality around all patient information.
