About The Position

The position is part-time, located at Advocate Health's Gurnee facility, focusing on Family Medicine. The role involves completing patient order confirmations and modifications, ensuring all paperwork is complete, and addressing safety issues documented by drivers. Responsibilities include processing service maintenance tickets, maintaining knowledge of various healthcare guidelines, verifying authorizations for managed care clients, and ensuring proper reimbursement sources. The position also requires proficiency in computerized resources for data entry and patient processing, as well as completing billing entries and managing patient records. Customer service support is a key aspect, resolving issues related to delivery, equipment, and documentation. The incumbent may also be required to perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 3-4 years of office experience.
  • Understanding of third-party payors, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Home care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes patient order confirmations and modifications for item changes occurring after initial order ticket printing.
  • Reviews all paperwork submitted with equipment set up packets to ensure all forms are complete, signed, and dated appropriately.
  • Follows up on safety issues documented by drivers with appropriate correspondence.
  • Processes service maintenance tickets and resets the schedule for future service and maintenance of rental equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, Managed Care, PHO's, and Advocate contract procedures and guidelines.
  • Verifies that current and appropriate authorizations are in place for all managed care clients.
  • Identifies, investigates, and verifies sources of reimbursement.
  • Proficiently uses computerized resources and data entry programs for processing patients with HME/RT needs.
  • Completes daily updates by running the Confirmed Orders for Billing Report.
  • Obtains payable diagnosis codes for items dispensed.
  • Reviews billing system for existing patient accounts or creates new accounts.
  • Completes insurance eligibility checks within the billing system.
  • Enters charges through Direct Billing entry.
  • Completes monthly bulk billing to hospital cost centers.
  • Works weekly Open Orders Report to investigate delays in confirmation and revenue collection.
  • Confirms or deletes open orders after thorough investigation.
  • Completes daily patient record retention and archive processes.
  • Prepares documents for scanning and indexing into electronic medical records.
  • Operates and monitors scanning/imaging equipment.
  • Indexes scanned documents accurately.
  • Prepares and works various reports to maintain accurate account information.
  • Provides customer service support to internal and external customers.
  • Responds to customer equipment questions and follows up to ensure resolution.
  • Backs up phone support for all AHCP departments.
