The role is crucial in preventing the creation of duplicate medical records, which can lead to treatment safety issues and billing problems. The individual will ensure compliance with the organization's accrediting bodies to positively identify patients before delivering care, thus ensuring patient safety. Responsibilities include checking in and registering patients, obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information, discussing and collecting co-pays, and maintaining confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA. The role may also involve scheduling appointments, providing information about test preparations, and educating patients on the patient portal/app. The position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
