About The Position

The position is a full-time role in the Cardiology department, stationed in Aurora, with responsibilities supporting Cardiology at four sites: Naperville, Batavia, Aurora, and North Aurora. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with varying shifts between 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM on a rotating weekly schedule. There are no weekend or holiday shifts required, although weekends may be available for overtime if desired. The pay range for this position is $19.45 to $29.20 per hour.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of related customer service experience.
  • Experience handling difficult callers/customers/patients.
  • CRT/PC experience in a customer service setting.
  • Working knowledge of eClinicalWorks and scheduling sections of the eClinicalWorks system preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems posed by callers seeking referrals, appointments, billing issues, and clinical information.

Responsibilities

  • Provides efficient, high-quality service to patients arriving for appointments or requesting information via phone or in person.
  • Greets and accurately registers patients in the EMR system, verifying essential billing and demographic information.
  • Coordinates scheduling of patient appointments accurately and efficiently.
  • Answers multiple incoming telephone lines, determining the appropriate recipient of calls or messages.
  • Distributes communications accurately based on practice protocol, including pagers, faxes, and emails.
  • Resolves a variety of patient questions, including HMO referrals, billing queries, and test results.
  • Schedules future appointments and requisitions for laboratory tests, radiology procedures, and other special diagnostic tests.
  • Notifies patient care areas when patients arrive and are ready to be seen.
  • Attends to waiting patients in reception, ensuring timely service or notification of delays.
  • Accurately identifies insurance types and verifies eligibility as necessary.
  • Ensures entry of billing information at the time of service and follows up on missing information.
  • Reviews encounter forms for accuracy and completeness, checking with physicians for missing information.
  • Enters patient charges into the EMR system according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains medical records, ensuring availability and confidentiality of patient information.
