About The Position

Esse Health is currently seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative for our West County Internal Medicine office located at 1585 Woodlake Drive in Chesterfield. Summary: The Patient Service Representative's main responsibility will be answering incoming calls for the office. The PSR will ask pertinent questions related to patient symptoms and relay this information to the provider. The chosen candidate must project a positive and professional image over the phone, and in all interactions with patients and coworkers. We are seeking candidates who have the ability to multi-task and stay organized, as well as who possess a strong desire to delivery quality customer service! Previous healthcare experience is required. Clinical experience is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical experience
  • Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO’s, PPO’s, etc.
  • Ability to recognize priority or emergency phone calls
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, both on the telephone and in person, including patients who are angry or upset
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to sit at a desk and answer the telephone/perform data entry up to 8 hours a day
  • Proficient with Windows-based PC environment
