About The Position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) at Kimball Medical Group Orthopedics is responsible for managing all front-end functions related to patient interactions, including customer service, scheduling, registration, and billing. This role is crucial for ensuring patient satisfaction and accurate processing of patient information and payments. The PSR will work collaboratively with patients, physicians, and staff to maintain efficient operations and uphold the clinic's standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma; college-level courses preferred.
  • At least 4 years of relevant front-desk and customer-related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated competency with medical procedural coding (CPT/ICD9).
  • Competency with cash controls and typing skills at a minimum of 40 WPM.
  • Experience with patient or customer information systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, and staff to ensure patient satisfaction and accurate processing of front-end functions.
  • Plan and direct pre-verification of patient insurance, registration, billing, and collections.
  • Respond to patient inquiries via telephone following established protocols.
  • Schedule patients at their convenience for physician visits using established protocols.
  • Register all patients at each visit, capturing complete and up-to-date patient and insurance information.
  • Receive and document patient payments, including co-payments and past balance payments.
  • Check-out each patient, including charge entry for current visits and scheduling future appointments.
  • Perform surgical and hospital charge entry functions as assigned and collaborate with providers on coding procedures.
  • Reconcile cash and charge batches, balance cash drawer, and prepare deposits according to clinic policy.
  • Process all referral requests by physicians and patients in a timely manner.
  • Maintain medical records in accordance with records protocols.
