About The Position

The Patient Service Representative at Scripps Health plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience for patients in the MRI / XIMED Imaging department. Requirements

Nice To Haves

• 1 or more years of experience in customer service or healthcare/medical office environment.
• Prior patient scheduling experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance billing guidelines.
• Understanding of DRG's, Medical ICD9/ICD10 codes, and CPT/HCPC Codes.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and providers to gather information for accurate registration.
• Assign Medical Record Numbers and manage appointment scheduling.
• Collect point of service payments and documents during check-out functions.
• Respond to customer billing and payment inquiries.
• Manage the check-in and check-out process, including identification verification and confirming demographic and insurance information.
• Ensure appropriate forms are provided, signed, and witnessed at the time of the patient visit.
• Prepare end-of-day reporting or payment reconciliation.
• Schedule and confirm appointments in person or over the phone, entering appropriate insurance information.
• Initiate and validate referrals and authorizations.
• Provide proactive customer service by listening to patients and resolving concerns.
