About The Position

The Patient Service Representative position is a full-time role located in Elmhurst, IL, requiring 40 hours of work per week. The office hours vary from Monday to Friday between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays once a month from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The role involves providing front desk coverage under general supervision, answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, and registering new patients in the EPIC system. Additionally, the representative will schedule laboratory and off-site diagnostic tests as requested by physicians, verify insurance eligibility, interpret covered benefits, process patient charges, and provide clinic set-up and other office support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Keyboard and computer skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required if performing related duties at an off-site location.
  • Maintain automobile liability coverage as required by law.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of three months previous business office or healthcare-based experience.
  • Previous insurance or managed care experience preferred.
  • Medical terminology or coding experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front desk coverage under general supervision.
  • Answer incoming calls and schedule appointments.
  • Greet patients and register new patients in EPIC.
  • Schedule laboratory and off-site diagnostic tests requested by physicians.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and interpret covered benefits.
  • Process patient charges by totaling fees, applying insurance coverage, calculating adjustments, and receiving and recording payments in the computer system.
  • Assist with clinic set-up and other office support.
