About The Position

The Patient Service Representative II is responsible for ensuring the scheduling, financial, and communication process is complete for patients and referring physicians. Employs knowledge of scheduling parameters to optimize patient flow and ensure financial performance by effectively utilizing provider calendars to schedule patients in a timely manner. Following established physician protocols, the representative evaluates referral requests to determine the timing of patient appointments. Participates as the key communicator in the scheduling process between the referring physician, the patient and the Attending provider to produce a smooth process. Ensures the financial integrity of the University of Florida Physicians and the Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) by facilitating established financial processes that enable and expedite the billing and collection of professional services. This includes: applying coding/billing rules; maximizing collections; verifying insurance; obtaining authorizations for services; reviewing patient account detail; and, financial counseling of patients. May be required to float to staff other clinics as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of financial and physician practice experience required, preferably related to patient accounts and collections.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Incumbent must be comfortable collecting payments and counseling patients regarding financial matters in a professional manner.
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, problem solve and function in a team environment are necessary attributes of the successful incumbent.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred.
  • Four-year degree may substitute for two years of financial/physician office experience.
  • Epic knowledge preferred.
