The Patient Service Representative I is a part-time, registry/zero-hour position within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle department. This role is fundamental in creating and maintaining accurate electronic health records, ensuring patient identification for safety, and managing the patient registration process. Key responsibilities include obtaining and verifying patient demographic, guarantor, and insurance information, discussing and collecting co-pays, and ensuring timely payments. The representative must uphold strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, understand various insurance plans, and be knowledgeable about financial obligations and referral processes to Financial Advocates. Compliance with government agencies and regulations such as EMTALA and Medicare notices is also essential. Additional duties involve scheduling appointments, providing detailed patient information, fostering a welcoming environment, handling telephone inquiries, and offering patient assistance like transportation or interpreter services. The position requires monitoring and managing electronic health record work queues, demonstrating strong customer service, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
