About The Position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) works as a member of Health Ministries Clinic team in an integrated primary-care/behavioral health setting. The PSR assists providers to care for patients by scheduling appointments and taking phone calls for the clinic. PSRs do participate in staff meetings, and staff training as required for the job role. The PSRs work closely with patients to ensure the accuracy of their dental appointments, personal information, and billing information. Health Ministries Clinic is an FQHC that provides care to all members of the community regardless of socioeconomic or insurance status. Services clinic-wide are provided using sliding fee scales to make healthcare affordable to patients without insurance. We believe that integrated healthcare serves to treat the whole person and not just the symptoms. This is why we offer our patients Behavioral Health, Primary Medical Care, Laboratory, Imaging, and Pharmaceutical services all under one roof with the addition of Dental care just blocks away. Requirements

  • Minimum education: High school diploma/GED required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is required
  • Computer knowledge, and ability to work independently with little direction requires

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months experience as a medical receptionist or medical records clerk preferred
  • Experience with customer service and multi-line phones is preferred
  • Medical terminology/procedural knowledge strongly preferred but not required
  • Bi-Lingual ability in Spanish is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enters a variety of information into the Electronic Health Record.
  • Accurately checks patients in for appointments and scans a variety of documents into system.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, patience, and helpfulness toward patients and their families
  • Manage appointments and stay informed of appointment status
  • Answer phones promptly, courteously, and efficiently
  • Assist patients with registration forms
  • Enter patient information accurately in the electronic health record
  • Verify insurance eligibility
  • Verify eligibility for sliding fee discount schedule
  • Collect and accurately record payments and co-payments for all services
  • Assist providers as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information, including HIPAA
  • Follow HMC policies and procedures
