About The Position

The position involves performing all duties related to registering patients receiving services, including obtaining demographic, insurance, and medical information, as well as handling billing tasks. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent education.
  • Two years of experience in a hospital or medical office environment, preferably with registration and insurance knowledge.
  • Knowledge of office equipment and medical terminology.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients and team members.
  • Experience in customer service and crisis situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
  • Experience in a practice or clinic setting and knowledge of scheduling systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Familiarity with Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) and insurance verification websites.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients or their representatives to obtain necessary demographic and insurance information.
  • Inputs registration information into the computer system and verifies the accuracy of the data entered.
  • Prepares required forms for completion and ensures they are explained clearly to patients.
  • Receives and reviews medical documentation and assists in processing these documents appropriately.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and medical necessity using various online resources.
  • Facilitates patient flow by directing them to the correct locations and providing assistance as needed.
  • Handles phone calls, checks voicemails, and logs or returns calls based on responsibilities.
  • Assists clinical staff and providers with clerical tasks when necessary.
  • Supports daily workflow of the practice, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Utilizes EHR and other systems for insurance verification and patient information management.
  • Follows HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Operates office equipment and assists in its maintenance.
