About The Position

The OB Surgical Technologist position at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas, is a full-time role primarily during night shifts. The role involves maintaining professional accountability and providing technical support for patient care in the obstetrics department. Under the direction of nursing and medical staff, the technologist will perform a variety of duties related to patient care, clerical support, and surgical assistance. Responsibilities include preparing operating and delivery rooms, assisting in labor and delivery procedures, maintaining sterile instrumentation, and supporting the nursing team and patients with various tasks. The position requires the ability to work efficiently during obstetrical emergencies and may involve taking call. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program per the National Board of Surgical Technology.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience as a surgical technologist, from new graduates to experienced professionals.
  • Must understand English both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for patient care in the OB department.
  • Assist in labor and delivery procedures, including C-sections.
  • Prepare operating and delivery rooms for procedures.
  • Maintain and clean sterile instrumentation according to hospital policy.
  • Support nursing staff and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Perform clerical support tasks such as patient registration and record maintenance.
  • Assist with operational support tasks including charge capture and ensuring adequate supplies.
  • Maintain calm and work effectively during obstetrical emergencies.
  • May be required to take call.
