About The Position

The Patient Service Representative and Insurance Verifier position in Rehab Services is located in Skokie, IL. This full-time role involves working rotating shifts, primarily during the day and evening hours. The position requires no travel and focuses on ensuring patient benefits eligibility, pre-certifying services, and verifying benefits to facilitate revenue reimbursement. The representative will work closely with patients, their representatives, and insurance carriers to manage the registration data and ensure compliance with payer requirements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in business or healthcare preferred.
  • Minimum of one to two years of registration, scheduling, or customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required if performing related duties at an off-site location.
  • Knowledge of health insurances, medical terminology, and anatomy preferred.
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
  • Manual dexterity to operate various office machines required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with patients and their representatives and insurance carriers to determine patient benefits eligibility.
  • Pre-certify services and perform verification of benefits to ensure revenue reimbursement.
  • Screen registration data for compliance with payer and pre-certification requirements.
  • Correct and update accounts and bills to the appropriate party.
  • Review and analyze all required demographic, insurance/financial, and clinical data necessary to expedite payment on patient accounts.
  • Perform pre-certification notification via telephone or electronically and gather required documentation for submission to insurance carriers.
  • Research pre-certification denials including missing authorization or referral documentation.
  • Confirm referral requirements for individual plans and work with referring physician offices to obtain referrals.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of productivity as determined by the Rehab Services department.
