The Patient Service Representative greets patients and arranges for the efficient and orderly registration of patients. This role ensures that accurate patient and insurance information is collected and that patients are made aware of clinic policies and procedures. The representative answers telephone calls, addresses billing questions from patients, processes medical records requests, and handles general patient account functions. This position requires access to confidential patient information and involves making frequent decisions or actions following general procedures, often without clearly defined precedents. A high degree of mental alertness and close visual attention to details is necessary. The representative must maintain diplomacy and a professional image while dealing with patients, families, visitors, and clinic personnel. As the initial point of service contact for clinic customers, the Patient Service Representative is responsible for creating a positive first impression. Attendance is an essential function of this job.
