About The Position

The Patient Service Associate is an integral part of the health center team. This crucial position is the first point of contact a young person makes with the health center. The incumbent should possess excellent interpersonal and communication, and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School diploma/G.E.D. and 2 years of administrative, operations or clinical support experience required, preferably in a medical setting
  • Bilingual English / Spanish required or English / French
  • Ability to establish a good rapport and to provide excellent customer service with young people, staff, vendors, and guests
  • Tech savvy including EMR experience (preferably eClinicalworks), Microsoft (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other software programs
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Data entry experience and/or strong typing skills preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a face-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome young people, answer the telephone, schedule appointments, and overall, provide young people with excellent patient experience in the health center
  • Screen young people to determine appointments, medical/counseling needs, or other services
  • Make phone calls, send emails, text messages, or portal messages to remind patients of upcoming appointments, or to re-schedule clients who have missed or cancelled appointments
  • Maintain, prepare and copy/fax medical record requests
  • Utilize ePACES (Medicaid website), determine Medicaid eligibility and identify insurance plans
  • Register & interview young people, assemble medical records and request pertinent information
  • Scan and file patient documents in the patient’s medical record in eClinicalWorks
  • Responsible for the collection and distribution of mail for the health center
  • Participates in patient-centered medical home care team collaboration, including team huddles.
  • Performs other related tasks as requested by supervisor
