About The Position

Under direct supervision, responsible for providing customer service to patients by scheduling appointments, performing check-in and check-out procedures, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorization, and providing telephone triage. Works hours will vary Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Detail oriented with the ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
  • Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
  • EDUCATION: HS Graduate or Equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Medical/Clinical Experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, verifies insurance coverage and eligibility, reviews new patient registration, obtains authorizations, assists in the collection of copays and enters new patient information.
  • Maintains medical and insurance referral records and prepares patient charts.
  • Ensures test results are filed.
  • Handles and answers all phone calls and transfers calls to the appropriate departments as needed.
  • Manages patient appointments according to the physician's schedules and/or protocols.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
