Position Summary: Under the direction of the Charge Nurse or Nursing Director, the Patient Safety Technician works as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team providing assistance with patient and unit needs. The Patient Safety Technician also performs a variety of clerical duties and tasks to provide a well-supplied, safe, and clean patient unit. Qualifications: Education/ Experience: High School graduate or GED. Current AHA BLS certification required within 3 months. Other Requirements: Able to communicate effectively. Excellent organizational, customer service, and prioritization skills required. Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Requirements Essential Functions Of The Position: Provides care, treatments, and services within the LNA scope of practice as delegated and supervised by an LPN/RN. Works as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team providing efficient and appropriate assistance with patient and unit needs. Performs clerical duties and various tasks to maintain a well-supplied, safe, and clean patient unit. Stocks equipment and supplies and monitors for expired items. Immediately reports any observed changes in the patient’s behavior or condition to the primary nurse and informs RN/LPN of patient complaints related to health. Calls the appropriate emergency code if needed. Performs patient assistance activities related to ambulation and mobilization safely. Assists staff with dressing and undressing patients and secures clothing and belongings per company standard to ensure patient safety. Assists with delivery of meal trays and setup. Documents all observations, including restraints, in the medical record as instructed and within designated timeframes. Ensures patient confidentiality and refrains from discussing patient information with anyone other than the assigned nurse and physician. Communicates in a professional and empathetic manner with patients, listens and acknowledges complaints, and refers concerns to the nurse. Answers call lights and secures appropriate resources to address patient needs. Performs hourly rounding for patient experience and safety checks per unit standard. Transports patients within the hospital as needed. Answers telephones and completes other clerical duties as assigned. Assists with maintenance of overall unit organization and cleanliness. Salary Description $18 - $21 per hour based on experience
