About The Position

Loyola MacNeal has an excellent opportunity for a patient safety attendant to join the Clinical Resource Unit located at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. Our team of registered nurses, patient care techs, care managers, social workers, residents, and physicians are dedicated to providing compassionate care to the diverse community we serve. Our patient safety attendants support care delivery on the nursing unit by ensuring patient safety in a 1:1 environment. The ideal candidate will have the interpersonal skills necessary to interact in a courteous manner with patients, communicate effectively with family members, and interact with all levels of hospital staff. Performs constant and direct observation of a patient who is at risk of harming self and/or others. PSAa are also utilized for safety of confused or impulsive patients, really any patient behavior that can impede care delivery. GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Provides one to one, constant and direct observation of patients with suicidal ideation. Provides constant and direct observation of patients who are at risk of causing harm to self and/or others. Assists assigned staff (RNs and/or PCTs) to meet the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient by providing assistance with care services such as toileting activities, ambulation, position changes, hair care, and feeding. Maintains direct patient observation during all patient activities, including but not limited to toileting and transportation. TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients and with transfer/transport procedures as appropriate. COMMUNICATION - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights. QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • 1-2 years related experience preferred
