About The Position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care by continuously observing and monitoring high-risk patients. This position is essential for ensuring patient safety and minimizing risks of falls and self-harm, while also assisting with basic daily living activities as needed.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a direct line of sight with patients at all times, including during family visits.
• Accompanies patients to ensure safety during transportation, testing, and procedures.
• Establishes a safe patient environment by applying fall prevention protocols and infection control measures.
• Performs regular room assessments and after visitations to ensure safety.
• Creates clear and accurate documentation on patient status and activities during shifts.
• Assists nursing staff with tasks such as transporting patients and delivering supplies.
• Participates as an active member of the healthcare team, promoting collaboration with patients and families.
• Engages in performance improvement activities within the hospital or department.
• Restocks non-medicinal patient room supplies as needed.
