About The Position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) at HCA HealthONE Aurora plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of high-risk patients through continuous observation and monitoring. This position involves collaborating with the patient care team to create a safe environment, assisting with daily living activities, and advocating for patient-centered care. The PSA is responsible for maintaining a direct line of sight with patients, reporting their conditions, and intervening to prevent self-harm or harm to others.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire.
  • One or more years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous observation and monitoring for high-risk patients.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team to ensure a safe patient environment.
  • Assist with basic activities of daily living as needed.
  • Maintain a direct line of sight with the patient at all times.
  • Accompany patients during transportation, testing, and procedures.
  • Utilize knowledge of fall prevention protocols and infection control measures.
  • Monitor and report on the patient's physical and emotional condition.
  • Intervene to prevent self-harm or harm to others and seek assistance for escalating incidents.
  • Document patient status and activities accurately during the shift.
  • Demonstrate caring and empathy in all interactions.
