About The Position

The position involves performing constant and direct observation of patients with suicidal ideation or those certified for psychiatric hospitalization. The role includes providing general patient care, assisting with comfort and hygiene needs, maintaining direct observation during patient activities, and performing technical care such as taking vital signs and CPR. The position also requires effective communication and documentation to meet patient and family needs while ensuring confidentiality. Quality improvement is emphasized by utilizing time and resources effectively.

Requirements

• High School Diploma Required.
• BLS - American Heart Association certification.
• 1-2 years related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform constant and direct observation of patients with suicidal ideation.
• Assist assigned staff (RNs and/or PCTs) in meeting the comfort and hygiene needs of patients.
• Maintain direct patient observation during all patient activities, including toileting and transportation.
• Take vital signs as needed while maintaining direct patient observation.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as required.
• Assist with ambulating patients and with transfer/transport procedures.
• Document required information and communicate effectively to meet patient and family needs.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and department information.
• Utilize time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
